Where we’re coming from

Roll Pro is a real product. So is what we build.

Roll Pro is a Concord, Ontario manufacturer with strong GTA presence and a 4.7-star Google Business rating from 78 reviewers. Their signature offering is transparent polycarbonate roll shutters — you can see through them when deployed.

That’s a real, distinct product. We don’t build it. We install aluminum roll shutters, which are a closed barrier when deployed. Different priorities, different physics, different best-fit buyer.

We’re not here to bash Roll Pro. We’re here to give you the honest read on which product matches what you actually need the shutter to do. Sometimes that’s us. Sometimes that’s them.

Side by side

Side by side, line by line.

Both companies build premium, custom-fit roll shutter systems. Both offer motorization, both serve Ontario. The slat material is the headline difference — and it cascades into everything else.

When Roll Pro fits

Pick Roll Pro when these things are true.

We’ll say it out loud. There are real cases where Roll Pro is the better answer — and the visibility-first product is the reason.

  • You need a shutter you can see through when deployed. We build aluminum, which is fully closed. Polycarbonate is the product to ask Roll Pro about — we don't make that.
  • You're a storefront owner who wants the shop interior visible after hours for window-shopping or security camera sightlines. That's a real Roll Pro use case.
  • You want a patio enclosure that blocks wind and debris but doesn't darken the room.
  • You're buying the off-the-shelf Amazon product for a single window and skipping a custom install entirely.
When we fit

Pick myrollshutters.ca when these things are true.

Where aluminum and a closed barrier are the right answer for Ontario homes and businesses.

  • You want a closed barrier — privacy, blackout, full security, full thermal seal. Aluminum is the product family for that.
  • You're buying for security or storm protection and want underwriter-ready spec documentation included with the install.
  • You live outside the immediate GTA — Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor, Barrie — and want one installer covering your city.
  • You want a 10-year parts-and-labour warranty on the assembly, not a per-product-line variable warranty.

Rule of thumb

Ask one question before you spec the brand: does this shutter need to be see-through or a closed wall? If see-through, Roll Pro. If closed wall, aluminum.

Everything else — warranty, lead time, smart-home — falls in behind that one decision.

What no roll shutter solves

Honest limits on both products.

A roll shutter hardens the opening. It is not a fortress. Worth saying out loud before you buy either:

  • Neither product makes a home break-in proof. They raise the cost of entry significantly. Determined intrusion with the right tools and enough time can still get past one.
  • Storm protection scales with slat gauge and material. Standard residential aluminum is rated differently from commercial polycarbonate is rated differently from heavy-gauge security aluminum. Ask about the gauge, not just the brand.
  • Motorized shutters need power. Manual override is the failsafe during outages. Both brands handle this the same way.
  • The head box sits above the opening and is visible when retracted. Aluminum and polycarbonate both work this way — anyone who tells you the shutter disappears is selling you something different.
